Session time out?

About twice a week some users who attempt to access Canvas, are seeing an OpenCCC page informing them that: "YOUR SESSION HAS TIMED OUT Due to security reasons, your session has timed out, and you are now logged out of the application. Please log in again."

 How does one log back in?

There is no guidance verbiage or links to do so. Refreshing the page does nothing.

    Hello Dave,

    Users of Canvas are required to have an OpenCCC account to be issued their CCCID.  Once this account is created they can either log out of OpenCCC or continue to the enrollment application.  If they do neither and sit idle for 8-9 minutes they will receive a message that says their session will end in one minute with the option to log them out or keep them signed in.  Once that minute has expired and they have not selected an option, they receive the message 'For your security, close all browser windows and tabs to complete your sign out'.  Below this message is a link they can click on that says Return. If they click the link it should take them back to the login page for OpenCCC.   If students are completing an enrollment application, the same rule applies.  Their session will expire after 8-9 minutes of inactivity.  If this is is the same scenario, please instruct the students to either sign out after creating their OpenCCC account in order to access Canvas, or if they want to log back into OpenCCC they can click the Return link to log back in when their session times out.  Please let us know if this helps and if this is not what your students are experiencing, please email us at https://console.getsatisfaction.com/ccchelp/conversations/[email protected] and provide screen shots to help us better trouble shoot this issue.

    Hi Casey, thanks for this.

    However, you should note that users are NOT seeing any links or prompts labeled: "For your security, close all browser windows and tabs to complete your sign out." or "Return" when they arrive at the "YOUR SESSION HAS TIMED OUT" page. Please see attached screenshot.

    Perhaps what you are describing is only for CCCApply?
