I currently reside in California and benefit from Financial Aid's pell grant. I was wondering if I move out of state and attend California online courses, would I still receive financial aid? Or do I HAVE to remain in California to receive the full amount I'm qualified for?

Not sure how else to explain.

Thanks

Hi Michael,

In order to keep receiving financial aid assistance from the state you will need to maintain your residency in California. Financial Aid will not send out your funds if your address is an out of state address. So in order to keep receiving financial aid assistance you will need to maintain a California address, and not gain residency in another state. For example if you register to vote in another state, attend an out-of-state institution as a resident of that state, this would exclude you from paying the in-state fees.

The admission officer of each community college determines student residency status, according to state laws and regulations that specify the residency standards. Once you have found the college(s) from which you will be taking your online courses from, contact the college's admission office for more information about California residency.

I hope this helps you. If you have any further questions please let me know.
